Teen Gothic

Hi! I was reading this article pretty evocatively describing the DC goth scene in the '90s getting decimated by methamphetamine. I was curious if anyone here was around at that time, or has similar memories — I'm just very curious as to what the seedier side of the community was like back when the community was big.

I’m about to move up there and I’m wondering if there are any goth nights or places to catch a good show. I’m leaving the NYC area so I guess I’ve been spoiled because there’s always something to do here. Also, I know zero people in HV so it would be nice to make a friend with similar interests.

I am from Suomi. Here you might seem one or two goth-looking people at alternative music concerts occasionally, but otherwise basically never.

I moved to reading a couple years ago and have failed to meet anybody within the goth scene around here. I’m curious if anyones nearby! also, does anybody have any recommendations for goth/punk rock flea markets, other cool hangout spots, or any cool stores I don’t know about yet in the area. for reference, I’m 20. So nightclubs are out of the picture for now 💔

Who would you interpret to be the face of the goth subculture? A bit of a big question but I’m interested in hearing other goths opinions 🙂 I’m gonna be exploring the goth movement for my Fine Art final piece, most likely going to be doing a mix of collage and charcoal portraiture so if you happen to have any other ideas to include that’d be cool

Since moving to Denver a few years ago I've been wanting to get into the scene and meet like-minded individuals. Well, covid happened around that time and I just couldn't get out to do that, so I have no idea where the scenes are. I was hoping some people would know all the cool hangout spots and scenes for me to explore and meet new people. I'm not a drinker, so bars and clubs aren't super my thing. I know that's a huge facet of goth culture, but I was hoping other places like flea markets and the like would be a good option too. I'd really like to get back in touch with my fellow alternatives, but I just don't know where to start, paired with having a touch of the social anxiety and the lacking of self confidence, so I don't like going out and doing things by myself usually. I'm trying to get over that, so any places of interest would be very much appreciated. Thanks!

So, I’m curious about what the goth scene in Chicago was like in the 80s. Was it fun?

I wouldn’t say I new, but I still learning about it, and I’m looking to expand my interest in goth bands. I listen to a lot of The Cure, Siouxsie And The Banshees, Vision Video, Horror Vacui, and Rosegarden Funeral Party to name a few.
